Food Trip: PenPen's Restaurant

What comes to mind when you hear Cubao-X? Cheap beer, outlet stores, indie music, people from all walks of life, and home-cooked meals.

YES, you better believe it. This came about when PenPen's Restaurant opened there.

PenPen's Restaurant

I got to taste their awesome dishes before, when I worked for this music channel who featured them in a lifestyle segment. They were still near Timog back then.
Their Munggo Espesyal was the first munggo dish I've ever tried (I'm not exactly a fan of munggo).

Needless to say, I became a convert because of their Munggo Espesyal. :)

I'm also a fan of their Adobo Flakes Silog, served with vinegar with garlic. :)

Here are what my friends ordered :)

Considering the serving and quality of the food they serve, their prices are really affordable.
The place is clean, homey, easy to find, and conveniently located at the facade of Cubao-X.
Plus, you don't have to wait that long for your food to be served.

When we asked for our bill, the waiter handed us this super cute case of some sort. *Dumbfounded
Turns out, this is where they put the bill. LOL. Adorable!
Check out their placemat / menu. :)

TIP: If you want to avoid waiting for a table, come in before or after the typical dinner/lunch time. We got there around 6:30pm and we were the only customers. But come 7:30-8:00, the place is packed with hungry patrons.

This place boasts delicious Filipino food with a twist, which makes everything on the menu really interesting and worth trying.

If you're ever in the Cubao area or you're just craving for Filipino food that's out of the the ordinary, PenPen's Restaurant is the place for you.

  5. Wow Pinoy foods for affordable prices.
Plus, yung carbonara hinaluan ng penoy. Parang ang weird. hehe.
Mukhang masarap naman mga food since laging napupuno yung resto.

  7. I'm not sure if I'm going to dine there. It's dead expensive for a non-restaurant dish. I love Filipino food. Perhaps I'll go for carenderia cheap na authentic Filipino dish pa.

    1. This is a usual comment nga po. I think mahal kasi yung rent nila nung place kaya mas mahal na siya. I remember their prices are a bit lower before sa previous location nila eh.

      Thanks for dropping by! :)

  13. Hmm... the prices are a bit on the high side... I don't think ordinary people will be able to afford them... of course, when I say ordinary, I meant people from lower income classes... still, it sounds like a very nice place to eat...

    1. It is a bit expensive. And napansin ko din when I was there, their market is the yuppies (young professionals) talaga. Especially in Araneta Center where call centers and other offices are all over the place.

      Thanks for dropping by. :)

Did they add new dishes on their menu?
