Kanebo Sala Hair Cologne - Review and Photos

Who loves smelling fresh all the time? Don't we all? Being a daily commuter, I'm always exposed to pollution and dirt. Our erratic weather here in the Philippines surely doesn't help either. As much as I try to keep myself smelling good always (by taking a bath twice a day, using deodorant and perfume), the aforementioned factors could always leave my hair "amoy araw", like cigarette/smoke and sometimes like "ulam" (food). What is the quick fix for this hair issue? Hair cologne!

Hair cologne is a big hit in Japan. Actually, I think this hair arsenal started there. My sister got me 2 hair colognes from her recent trip to Japan: one from Shiseido and this one from Kanebo.

Kanebo Sala Hair Cologne

Kanebo Sala Hair Cologne smells like a good mix of floral and slight fruity scents. For me, this is a kikay bag staple especially on date nights after work. The boyfriend is taller than me so I wouldn't want him to sniff on a smelly (and by smelly I mean "amoy araw", cigarette, etc) head of hair. I really can't tell you much about it because the details on the bottle aren't in English.

What was my experience?
It really helped in getting rid of the bad smell. Some girls might find this a little bulky to tote around, but I personally don't mind. My only issue with this product is that it could reduce the volume of my hair. It's a cologne, so when I use it, I actually wet my hair, so using it sparingly is a must. I also don't know what are the ingredients used to create this product. Hopefully it doesn't have SLS.

PROS:
  • Helps in getting rid of the bad smell
  • Smells good
  • Not heavy to tote around
  • Available online but online (ebay and IG) sellers' prices are twice its original price

CONS:
  • Could leave my hair limp because it wets the hair
  • I don't know the ingredients used
  • Not available in leading supermarkets and dept stores

If you can find a dry shampoo that also gets rid of the bad smell of the hair, I say go for that. You get or keep the volume of your hair while getting rid of the bad smell.

VERDICT:

 I might repurchase.

Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover in BO10- Review,Photos,Swatches

I'm all about Japanese makeup. I love how innovative they are with the products they come up with, and how these products really keep their promise. But what I love most about them? They work perfectly for my skin type and color.

I was so happy when Majolica Majorca finally reached our shores. They're not exactly cheap (price-wise), so I was a little apprehensive to try them. Anyway, I've been using this foundation (together with their primer) for months now, and here is my review.

Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover is a powder foundation that works for both skin types, though I think it works better for oily/combination skin. My shade is BO10. Its velvety smooth, finely milled powder blends perfectly on my skin, even more when I use it with their primer. I especially love the glamorous and luxurious packaging. The formula worked for me because it kept my oil at bay, and minimized my pores a little (together with the primer). It didn't irritate my skin nor caused zits. I use the sponge that comes with it because I feel that the coverage it gives is better that way. It didn't have a distinct scent also.

Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover

PROS:
  • Keeps my oil at bay
  • Minimizes the appearance of my pores (with the primer)
  • Didn't cause any irritation
  • Locally available

CONS:
  • Pricey
  • Limited shades (I think they have 3 or 4?)
  • It'll work better when a primer is used underneath

VERDICT:

 I might repurchase.

V&M Naturals Jagermeister Pore Suit Soap - Review and Photos

My love for soaps made of natural and healthy ingredients started when I used this soap. I was having really awful breakouts back then, and I felt like my cleansers aren't doing their job, so I went to V&M Naturals in SM North Annex and I asked what can I use aside from tea tree soaps and kojic soaps. I was very specific on what I want: something will thoroughly clean my skin and pores without drying my skin. Tea Tree and Kojic could be a little harsh and sting my skin so I was looking for a more gentle yet effective alternative, and they gave me this: Jagermeister Pore Suit.

V&M Naturals Jagermeister Pore Suit

V&M Naturals Jagermeister Pore Suit soap cleanses and clears pores from deep within. It also claims that it can dramatically reduce the size of our pores and can help in preventing blackheads and whiteheads.

What was my experience?
It's an excellent facial soap for those with oily/combination skin like me. My skin feels really clean and firm after using, making this my #1 facial soap. It doesn't dry out my skin unlike tea tree and kojic soaps. As for the size of my pores, they're still apparent especially when it's humid. I don't really think that can be improved. It's in my genes and I've accepted them since my teenage years. My doctor even told me apparent pores are fine, as long as they're clear and clean - which is why I can't be without this soap!

PROS:

  • Cleans and clears my skin and pores thoroughly
  • My skin feels firm and refreshed after every use
  • It doesn't dry out my skin
  • It's made of natural ingredients
  • Locally made
  • Available online and selected locations

CONS:

  • It's a bit expensive compared to most soaps (Retail price is Php295 but I got it on sale - 5 soaps for Php1000)
  • The label doesn't indicate the expiration date
  • Not available in leading local supermarkets and dept. stores

VERDICT:

I will repurchase! Actually, this is my second bar already. ;)

Bag O' Shrimps SM Megamall - Review and Photos

The boyfriend and I don't frequent SM Megamall, but it was a holiday, so for the first time we went there for our date. I've been wanting to try this place for months now, especially because I've been hearing a lot of good feedbacks about their food. I always enjoy trying new restaurants with my boyfriend because we're both foodies. So we went to Bag'O Shrimps in the Atrium, SM Megamall.

Bag'O Shrimps

Bag'O Shrimps reminds me of southern style seafood cooking: shrimps and mussels in cajun style seasoning with corn still on the cob. It generally reminds me of the movie Forrest Gump! The boyfriend and I love sea food and spicy dishes in general, so our expectations for their food is pretty high.

What did we order?

Calamares

Bag of Shrimps in Bag O' Momma

What was our experience?
Their menu was short and straight to the point, which is okay since a big menu could be overwhelming sometimes. We were there around lunchtime and I was expecting the place will be packed, but there were 3-4 tables available. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, most especially Cherie.

We ordered Bag of Shrimps with Corn. We were supposed to include local sausage to the bag but they ran out of it. We also included Calamares. Waiting time for the food was a bit long, like 15-20 minutes, so if you're just on your lunch break, you might want to go somewhere else. We assumed it's because they're short on staff when we were there (there were only 2 servers that time, and they're also the cashier).

We weren't provided with any plastic gloves or bib. It's probably because there'll be an extra charge for those. The boyfriend and I decided to eat with our hands since they have a washing area in the restaurant. Honestly, we just didn't want to pay extra for the gloves and bib. :-p

The food was excellent! The Bag O' Mama is sweet, salty with right amount of heat in it. We'll probably try it with the sausage next time. The Calamares is just okay. Nothing special. But we love the dip. :)

We recommend you get the table with couches. It's far more comfy than the steel chairs they have. As expected, the bill also took a while to arrive.

PROS:

  • Excellent staff, very friendly and accommodating especially Cherie
  • Bag of shrimps are highly recommended
  • The restaurant's ambiance is casual
  • The interiors are pretty cool and roomy

CONS:

  • Local sausage wasn't available
  • Waiting time for the food was a bit long
  • Won't recommend to yuppies on lunch breaks
  • The bill took a while to arrive
  • A little pricey - but definitely worth it

VERDICT:

 We will definitely go back!

Fabyoulush Coffee Detox Beauty Bar - Review and Photos

I'm not a huge coffee fan. Yeah, I know. I'm that kind of person. But a coffee that wouldn't cause heart palpitation, won't affect acidity in my tummy and won't deprive me of my well-deserved sleep? Gimme, gimme! Well, this coffee I'm talking about is not something one should ingest. It's actually a beauty bar. :)

Fabyoulush Coffee Detox Beauty Bar

Fabyoulush Coffee Detox Beauty Bar claims it can help in detoxifying our skin by removing toxins. It can also reduce water retention. It also has seaweed extracts which is a popular slimming and firming agent.

How was my experience?
The smell of coffee is very relaxing so I use this at night. It helps in exfoliating my skin though I would suggest you rub it really gently because the coffee granules (or chunks?) could be rough on the skin. I also noticed it's pretty moisturizing so my skin didn't feel dry after using it. Did I slim down? Highly unlikely. Did my skin become firmer? I haven't really noticed. Maybe when we partner this beauty bar with proper diet and exercise, then we'll see significant changes.

All in all, I really love this beauty bar. It calms down my senses after a long day at work and my skin feels smoother an moisturized after each use. Considering the fact that it's locally made, on top of the other things I love about it, I'll surely repurchase.

PROS:

  • The coffee scent is very relaxing and calming
  • It smoothens and moisturizes my skin
  • Locally made
  • Available online and in selected locations

CONS:

  • The coffee chunks could be a little rough on the skin
  • The label doesn't indicate the expiration date
  • The label doesn't state all the ingredients used
  • Not available in leading supermarkets/dept store

VERDICT:

 I might repurchase.
