Sponge Cola - OPM Pride For Beale Street Music Festival 2012

As I've said before, I am not a music connoisseur. I'm just the typical music lover who can't live without my headset plugged in my ears.

I'm a huge fan of OPM and OPM artists, especially those who can come up with good and original songs; And Sponge Cola is one of those.

I really don't get why some people diss this band and everyone else that falls in the "pogi rock" category. Seriously, what is sooo wrong with neat and well-groomed rock bands?

Sponge Cola has been around for quite some time now. I can still remember when I first heard them play live at a bar in Makati or Pasig I think, and they covered Madonna's Crazy For You, and let me tell you, as a Madonna fan, I was impressed. :)

They have produced lots of hits, several of which can be considered a theme song of a particular time in my life. Their music videos are well made too (count their MYX Music Awards trophies, yow!).

If you're a genuine music lover, I'm sure you've heard of Memphis In may International Festival. A part of this event is the Beale Street Music Festival. This year marks the 36th anniversary of the latter. Every year, artists from all genres and music fans all over the US gather to this grand music event. Do you know who's the first all-Filipino band who'll be playing in the said event? Oh yes, it's SPONGE COLA.

The boys were apparently discovered by the organizers in YouTube. They checked the band out, contacted them, and invited them. The band is set to play in May 4 and 5.

Take that, haters!

Outfit Of The Day: Coachella Mode

I've decided to let my leggings rest since it's summer.
It was really hard for me to adjust since I haven't been exposing my troso legs for quite some time now. Also, avoiding leggings/tights means I can't wear my mini skirts (especially because I commute everyday and I live in Sampaloc), so my only bottom option is shorts.

This particular humid summer day, I was in the mood of "dressing up" without the usual frills and florals, so I instantly thought of what I would wear for Coachella (if ever I would go).

This is what I came up with. :)

What I'm Wearing:

Madonna shirt - People Are People, 299php (on sale)
Denim shorts - SM Department Store (Plus Size), 599php
Boots - Babo, 1800php
Bag - H&M, 150HKD
Aviators - Forever 21, 225php

Outfit Of The Day: Dry Winter in Hong Kong

Did I mention it was freakin' cold in Hong Kong? It was sunny, yes, but the wind is really cool. It felt like dry winter, so I had to wear layers of clothing.

We were supposed to go around and visit the awesome sceneries of Hong Kong (inlcuding Disneyland, but we ended up shopping instead, HAHAHA!) that's why I was wearing everything that could protect me from the cold.

This is what I came up with when I wanted to layer up.
Yes, almost everything is in black because it's flattering but I tried using colors here and there, too. :)

What I Was Wearing:

Bonnet - Promod, 699php
Turquoise tank top - Dorothy Perkins, 300php
Black V-neck shirt - Forever 21, 599php
Knitted cardigan - Landmark, 409.75php
Pink scarf -  Landmark,189.75php
Denim skirt - Dorothy Perkins, 999php (on sale)
Leggings - Landmark 189php
Shoes - DC in Shoe Salon 1795 (on sale)

MAC Pink Pigeon - Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Pink Pigeon is my utmost favorite bright pink lipstick! It's almost as neon-y as Candy Yum Yum without the purple undertones. It's a matte, cool toned pink that's just perfect for spring and summer. This lipstick is from the MAC Iris Apfel Collection.

Uniquely Singapore

What do I love about being nocturnal?

Being able to enjoy and appreciate the different lights of the city. :)

Singapore is probably one of the top (if not the top) destinations in Asia.
With these pictures, are you still wondering why? :)

MAC Morange - Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Morange is a bright orange lipstick in an amplified creme finish. This is one of the best MAC lipsticks (in my opinion). It's creamy, opaque, long wearing, and the color is just flattering (for most skin types, if not all). It brightens up my face instantly! This is a permanent color but was re-promoted in the MAC Iris Apfel collection. The shade is quite similar to MAC Neon Orange.

MAC Morange

PROS: opaque, creamy, long wearing, beautiful shade, permanent color
CONS: a bit pricey

VERDICT:

 I will definitely repurchase!

MAC Flamingo - Review, Photos, Swatches

If there's a lipstick that will fall in the "my lips but better" category, MAC Flamingo would be it.
MAC Flamingo is a muted coral lipstick in a lustre finish. Honestly, I'm still confused if I love this finish.
It's creamy, a little glossy, and is not opaque (though it is buildable). But I must admit, this particular shade is really refreshing and youthful to wear which I think is just perfect for spring and summer. This lipstick is from the MAC Iris Apfel Collection.

MAC Scarlet Ibis - Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Scarlet Ibis is a matte red-orange lipstick that's part of MAC Iris Apfel Collection. The shade is pretty close, a little darker than that of MAC Lady Danger. This color is reminiscent of old Hollywood, specifically of Scarlet O'Hara. Perfect for pin-up makeup look if you're tired or scared of the typical red.
