Hong Kong Makeup Haul

Guess who's back!

I super missed blogging! It's only been a little over a week but it felt like years for me.
What's up?? I just came home from my Hong Kong trip (and I'm still on HK-high mode) that I super enjoyed! Hong Kong is MY city. I try to go back once a year or every other year.

What's one thing I always do in Hong Kong whenever I visit? SHOPPING!

I really appreciate the fact that my favorite high-end makeup brands are cheaper there, which is why I feel like its more forgiving to spend a little more. Hahaha!

Here is my loot :)

Fairydrops Platinum Waterproof Mascara - Sassa, 110HKD

MAC Prep+Prime Lip - MAC Pro Store 170HKD

MAC Crosswires Lipstick - MAC Pro Store 150HKD

When He Is Home Alone

What do you do when you're home alone? Watch movies? Pig out? Sleep? Surf the net?

Here is what my cousin, Sephy,  does to kill time when he's alone and/or bored. :)

Notice the "signature" pose?? Hahaha!

My Taco Bell Fix

I've been craving for Taco Bell for weeks now, especially because I've been munching on nothing but Chinese food in Hong Kong. When I flew back home, I just had to go to the nearest Taco Bell branch and devour these treats.

Dig in, compadres! :)

Jenni Epperson: Superb Taste in Food + Style

Jenni Epperson, a renowned celebrity stylist, shares how she lives and eats in style in her book, Fashion + Food. Basically, the book is loaded with tips on how to entertain at home in style.

The first time I've heard of Jenni Epperson was when she hosted Good Finds in Lifestyle Network. What I remember about her is her bubbly yet sophisticated attitude and her pixie hair. I'm actually really envious because only a few selected (or rather gifted) individuals can rock this hair, and she's one of them!

What do I love about her and this new venture of hers? She promotes women empowerment by enjoying life now while pursuing our dreams. She emphasizes that we, women, should take care of ourselves. We must make every moment count: do your best at work, but make time for your family and especially for yourself, because enjoying life is the foundation of living in style.

This is a handbook for everyone on how to live your life more pleasurable and stylish.
It features 12 occasions we celebrate in a year and what food to cook, how to present it, appropriate table setting, and what clothes to wear on the said occasions.

Jenni Epperson wants you to get this book for the following reasons:

  • This is a helpful book, not a picture book
  • It's a live-life-in-style manual
  • It's feel-good book

MAC Full Fuchsia - Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Full Fuchsia is a lipstick that really deserves it's name. It's a spot-on fuchsia with subtle hints of shimmer. It's in an amplified creme finish so expect opaque coverage. I wasn't a fan of this shade at first because it seemed like it should be under the satin finish family. It's not as creamy as my other MAC lipstick in the said finishm but I learned to love it eventually. ;)

PROS: Texture and color payoff are superb. Long wearing, right amount of creaminess, buildable color. You can wear it really opaque or sheer.
CONS: It's a bit expensive.

VERDICT

  I will definitely repurchase!

Illamasqua Lipstick in Over - Review, Photos, Swatches

Illamasqua is a high-end makeup brand that offers a wide variety of beauty essentials for your alter ego. I've been reading great reviews about their products, particularly their lipsticks. So when the chance of ordering in Sephora came my way, I just had to grab it.I ordered 2 matte lipsticks from them. Here is the first one:

Illamasqua lipstick in Over is a matte coral-orange shade. It's not the kind of orange that's too bright. It's pretty long wearing, too. It's on cool toned side of orange though. It's a girly orange lipstick that's perfect for spring and summer.

PROS: The color is fab, especially for spring and summer. It has a matte finish and long wearing. The packaging is also sleek and sophisticated.
CONS: A little too drying. The opacity needs work, especially for girls with pigmented lips. It's also expensive and not locally available in the Philippines.

VERDICT:

I will repurchase when I don't find something better.

MAC Viva Glam Nicki - Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC you've got my heartbeat running away! I was beyond excited when I learned Nicki Minaj became a part of MAC Viva Glam family. I've always been a fan of the Viva Glam line, most especially because the proceeds go to a very deserving cause. My favorites have always been Viva Glam I and Viva Glam Cyndi because they're the most flattering on almost everyone. But because I love Nicki Minaj and pink lipsticks, this one is now my new fave from the said line. :)

A pretty pink lipstick that's great for summer and spring :)

Viva Glam Nicki - AC1 (Satin)

Viva Glam Nicki is a pink lipstick in satin finish. This is my 3rd MAC lipstick in the said finish, and so far I'm loving it. They have the opacity and color payoff of matte finish without the drying feeling. The color is a pink strawberry milkshake kind with extra strawberries. Do you get me? It's the kind of pink that's not too bright, in-your-face kind, but won't wash you out either. It's lighter than MAC Impassioned.

I'm a self-confessed MAC lipstick addict, and I am proud of it. I'm willing to spend money on anything that's of high quality. Plus with the Viva Glam line, I just don't get to keep a pretty and quality lipstick, I'm also supporting a great cause.

PROS: The formula is awesome: satin finish, opaque, pigmented, long wearing, not drying. The shade I believe works for most if not all skin tones. The proceeds of this lipstick goes to a great cause.
CONS: It's a bit expensive (but definitely worth it, IMO).

VERDICT:

  I will definitely repurchase!
