What comes to mind when you hear the word rebel? I'm pretty sure 99% of you would say something negative. Don't worry, that's just common. This word have always had a negative connotation..until MAC came out with a lipstick of the same name.

MAC Rebel - Satin Finish

MAC Rebel is a burgundy that over time, fades into a beautiful fuchsia. It has a satin finish. I've always been a fan of matte, semi matte, and amplified creme finishes so I was a bit apprehensive when I learned it's in satin. But of course, MAC did not disappoint. :)

When Worn

I wore Make Up For Ever  Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner in C10 under it.

Eyes: Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette

PROS: Opaque, long wearing, and has a subtle sheen. When it feathers out, it turns into a beautiful fuchsia. This is a permanent shade that was re-promoted when MAC Me Over was released.

CONS: It's a bit pricey, but that's about it. I can't think of any downside except that.

VERDICT:

 

I will definitely repurchase!

Boracay in December (2011 Ed)

I'm pretty sure people would agree that Boracay is almost synonymous to summer. Everyone wants to soak up the sun on the perfectly milled white sands and cool off in the cold and (almost always) clear waters by the beach. That's probably the reason why rates are ridiculously high and the island is just too congested with tourists during the said season.

Because my friends and I don't want to pay for sky-high prices on tickets and accommodations, we decided to go there during the time people would least likely go there: December.

We booked the cheapest flights available. Without insurance fee, round-trip tickets were about 1,500php.

A bucket of Strong Ice

Since we want a "couch" where we can leave our things in and where we can lie down and get a tan, we had to purchase a bucket of Strong Ice. I'm not exactly sure how much that was and if there's an extra fee for the couch. (I'm sorry, I was too excited to go in the water so I neglected Strong Ice).

 The bag / pouch I was holding is a waterproof bag.

It's spacious enough for my itouch, BlackBerry, money, lipstick, and keys.

This pouch is sooo cool! The front and back parts are clear, so you can use your itouch and iphone to take photos under water. It costs 250php, I got it in D*Mall.

Where We Stayed?

We stayed in Island Nook. It was more of a backpacker's lodge than a hotel.

It's a small place with a diner-ish restaurant inside.

I love the humorous posters that's all over the place

(The 3 of us paid for 2,600php each. The room we got is good for 4, and we stayed for 3 nights and 4 days.)

We ate in Jonah's Fruit Shake in Station 1. I'm sorry I forgot to take photos of their shakes.

My favorite is their Mocha Shake (90php, more or less)

 

I can't call it street food. Sand food, perhaps?

In Station 1, near Guilly's, there's a stand / kiosk that sells any meat they can barbecue.

My favorite is their Chori Burger. (Chori for Chorizo).

It's really delicious! You can have it spicy or just with the regular ketchup.

I think it's 25php-35php.

Hello there, Tourist!

Another stolen shot.Pfft.

 It was my second time in Boracay, but this is the first time I had my hair braided.

I wanted something girly and subtle, so I chose a French braid.

Costs 150php.

Our last night. Our last walk on the beautiful beach for 2011.

 This was a rather depressing walk. I wanted to stay a little longer, but of course, I have to go back to my life here in Manila. Boracay is such a liberating place for me. I shall elaborate on this in another post / blog. ;)

TIPS: If you want to save on tickets and accommodation and avoid the huge crowd, AVOID the peak season. You will see the difference and I'm sure you'll enjoy it more. The December weather is just perfect. The sun wasn't that hot. Yes it rained but it wasn't all day. Maybe for 2-3 hours (happened on our 3rd day there only). Eating and chugging down shakes in Jonah's Fruit Shake is a MUST! Same goes with the Chori Burger. :) The bars all over the island offers happy hour at different times so stroll and look around first when you want to drink at the best price available. If you're into water sports or activities, the waterproof bag is a great investment.

Last, but certainly not the least, have fun! It's Boracay! You don't get to see a paradise like this everyday (except if you live there, of course).

I know I said on a particular Facebook status that the NYX Matte Lipstick in Shocking Pink will be the last bright pink lipstick review I'll make this month. I'm really sorry, but I cannot keep my word this time.
I've been sporting this pink lipstick that I just got recently, and people have been complimenting me about it.
I just had to share this great find with you chicas. ;)

Milani Lipstick in Rose Hip

Milani Lipstick in Rose Hip is a bright pink lipstick. Almost a neon-bright pink. People say it's similar with NARS Schiap (I have to swatch them together to verify this).It has a semi-matte finish. It's creamy when applied but it dries out matte. It's opaque and it's longevity is pretty decent for a drugstore lipstick.I say it's more long wearing than NYX Matte Lipsticks.  It has a distinct smell (smells like a flower, I'm really not sure what kind). The smell goes away eventually though.

When worn

Left-Right: NARS Schiap, Milani Rose Hip (with flash)

PROS: It has a great formula: creamy when applied and dries out matte. It's also opaque and long wearing. This is a great deal for a drusgtore lipstick. It's also a great dupe for NARS Schiap.

CONS: The only possible issue that people would have with this is the scent / taste. Personally, I don't mind.

VERDICT: 5 out of 5 CHILIS! The smell isn't pungent, and it goes away eventually. For me, this lipstick is just perfect. :)

Nichido Eyeliner Pencil in Dark Brown(Used as Eyebrow Pencil)

This pencil is awesome! It's super pigmented, pretty long wearing, and quite cheap!

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette

It costs 3,800php when I got it. It was just released back then. It's probably cheaper now.

2.) WRATH: What beauty products do you have love/hate relationship with? What product has been hardest to get?

I love the fact that this mascara works wonders on my lashes, BUT it's such a bitch to take off!

Now, everyone knows how hard this is to find. I had to wait for a few months, and a beauty addict (hoarder, like moi) to finally sell her extra tube. It costs me more than twice the amount of SRP, but it's fuckin' worth it!

4.) SLOTH: What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?

Aveeno Facial Sunblock  SPF 70 and
Celeteque Facial Mositurizer with SPF 15

I'm a bit lazy to apply SPF most of the time because I always use my umbrella when it's sunny. I know, I know. My reasoning is wrong. I use Aveeno when I go swimming and Celeteque for everyday. :)

5.) PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?

Super Bright Lipsticks!

MAC Russian Red, MAC Girl About Town, and NARS Schiap

I don't know. There's just something about them that brings out the "Foxy Cleopatra" in me.

I feel naked without 'em on! 

6.) LUST: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

Perhaps we're talking about physical features here, right?

MAC Runaway Red - Review, Photos, Swatches

What do I love about MAC Runaway Red? It's not the red that screams vintage and pin-up. It's not a bright, in-your-face red. It looks like a dark brown lipstick on the tube, but really, it's a medium dark blue-based red. A lot darker than MAC Russian Red. This lipstick has a satin finish.

When Worn 

This was taken around 5:00am, during my 8:30pm-5:30am shift.

I'm sorry for the sleepy eyes. >__<

PROS: It's not your usual red lipstick (bright, in-your-face red). This is darker than Russian Red, which for me is a daytime red lipstick. The finish is amazing. It's opaque, long wearing, and not drying.

CONS: A limited ed shade, but has been re-promoted just recently. A bit pricey.

VERDICT: 5 out of 5 CHILIS! I didn't expect loving this shade and finish. Although I love MAC Rebel (satin finish, too), I didn't think I'll love a red lipstick in this finish. Good thing it's darker so the subtle sheen is just perfect. A really great buy, in my own honest opinion. :)
